What’s the latest for AI and data protection?
AI is slowly becoming a part of our lives whether we have stopped to think of it or not. From smart homes to voice...
Personal data covers a wide variety of different information, from employees’ appraisals and references to customers’ contact and payment details. As a result virtually every business in the UK processes personal data in some manner, especially with the rise of modern technology.
The introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018 also saw the biggest change to data protection law for over 20 years, bringing with it important new obligations that businesses need to adhere to, or be faced with hefty fines for non-compliance.
We are aware that many can see data protection as a bit of a minefield but our lawyers are able to help take the stress and confusion out of compliance. We can advise you on your obligations, ensure that your contracts are in line with data protection legislation and prepare your privacy policies.
We are also able to guide you on how to respond to subject access requests, helping to ensure that you balance the rights of the individual making the request with your own business needs and advising of the various deadlines with which you need to respond to these requests.
We can even carry out audits on your business, reviewing your documentation, databases and practices and suggesting ways in which they can be improved to comply with current and upcoming guidance and laws. Where consumer, marketing or privacy law also applies we can advise on these areas as well offering a full service.
For any further advice on data protection please contact Edwina or Charlotte today to see how we can help.
