John is a solicitor and partner of the firm. He joined Laceys as a trainee solicitor in 2001 and upon qualification in 2003 cut his teeth in residential conveyancing before moving into commercial property.
John now primarily supports and supervises other lawyers in both our commercial and residential property teams but also continues to advise clients on their property matters in the following sectors:
- Property development
- Property investment
- Buy to let
- Pension funds
- Business premises
- Secured lending
- Private client
- Charities
John typically advises clients on:
- Acquisition and disposal of development land, often by way of options and conditional contracts
- Estate development of freehold, leasehold, and mixed-use buildings and estates
- Business premises such as offices, distribution centres and factory premises
- Non-contentious commercial landlord and tenant work including new leases and renewals, assignments, licenses, and guarantees
- Due diligence, warranties, and contractual matters ancillary to corporate transactions
- Secured lending, on behalf of lenders, borrowers, and guarantors
- Acquisition and management of investment property by investors and pension funds
- Sale and purchase of private property
John is known for his down to earth, common sense approach, commitment to clients’ goals, and ability to work with all parties in a transaction to achieve results and outcomes to tight deadlines.
Recent examples of John’s work include:
- Estate development of more than 60 new properties, many involving strict deadlines to ensure sales were completed prior to the end of the Government’s Help to Buy Scheme
- The acquisition of a portfolio of commercial units, subject to planning for multiple sub-conversion, on a complex mixed-use estate
- An option for acquisition of a development site, subject to planning, with GDV of £10m+
- The sale and purchase of a number of residential properties in the £3 – £8m range
