Mediation voucher scheme paying couples £500 to divorce out of court extended
8th September 2021 by Gemma Burden
Laceys Mediation signed are pleased to announce the The Ministry of Justice Family Mediation Voucher Scheme has received an additional £800,000 which should enable the scheme to continue running until mid-December.
The scheme provides a contribution of up to £500 to families towards the mediation costs of a child arrangements case, in the aim to support people resolve their family law disputes outside of court, where possible.
Research suggests that more than 70% of those using mediation services will resolve their issues outside of courtroom.
Mediation is often a quicker and cheaper way of resolving disputes, which can spare families the trauma of attending court and the impact this can have on children. It involves couples working through their differences – led by an independent trained and accredited mediator – to reach agreements on child arrangements and finances following their separation, rather than have a judge decide for them.
Only mediators authorised by the Family Mediation Council (FMC) are taking part in the voucher scheme, which all Laceys Mediators are.
If you are experiencing family issues and would like to find out if you are eligible for the scheme please contact Gemma Burden at Laceys Mediation today.
