Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier

Our small but busy accounts department are looking for someone to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on a full-time basis (7 hours/day, 21 hours/week). There may be additional hours in the future.

This is a varied role with a focus on delivering timely and accurate transactional work. It’s a high-volume, deadline-driven area subject to regulatory rules, so you’ll need to be able to work well as part of a team.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • identification, allocation and processing of a high volume of receipts and payments which come into the firms’ bank accounts;
  • all related on-line banking receipt and payment processing activities
  • daily reconciliations of those bank accounts by effective use of our practice
  • management accounting software (Tikit Partner for Windows)
  • accurately recording all transactions on the accounting systems
  • general support of the team.

Previous experience as a Legal Cashier/in a law firm is an advantage but not essential – as is an understanding of the principles of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and money laundering regulations. You’ll have excellent working knowledge of electronic accounting systems and a high degree of IT literacy generally. Experience of, and confidence in, dealing with a high volume of financial transactions, including large transactions, is a must.

In addition to annual leave, occupational sick pay and pension scheme membership, Laceys provides a range of benefits to support your health and wellbeing including our EAP scheme, a healthcare cash plan and bike2work scheme among others. Being based in Bournemouth for a lunchtime walk to the beach also helps. The role is available on a hybrid basis after an initial induction and training period.
