TRAINING CONTRACT – LICENSING

Do you want to be a different sort of solicitor?

Laceys have an unique opportunity for the right person to work alongside the head of our Licensing Department, Philip Day, who is legal advisor to a number of associations involved in the event industry and a prominent leader in this field.

The work involves dealing with pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, off-licences, gambling venues, outdoor festivals and other music events.

The successful applicant for a training contract will spend an initial 3 month seat in our commercial property department, because an understanding of how property transactions relating to licensed premises need to be formulated is essential. The remaining term of the training contract will be exclusively in the licensing department and the successful applicant will be introduced to Philip’s substantial client base.

An aptitude for advocacy is an essential requirement as is a willingness to travel to hearings anywhere in England and Wales, not to mention being “on call” 24/7 when required.

Alcohol and Entertainment Licensing is not something that is usually taught in as part of Law degrees and full training will be provided for law graduates with no relevant experience.

However, applications are also invited from those who have a background in licensing and who may be looking for a career change and thinking of qualifying as a solicitor.

This position holds great long-term prospects for career progression within a very interesting area of law.

For an application form, please email Gemma Freeman g.freeman@laceyssolicitors.co.uk

The deadline for applications is 14th June 2021.

We’d like to hear from you if you have a sufficient PQE enabling you to cover a broad range of commercial property matters, often at partner level. We’re looking for someone who’s available at short notice, with the potential to cover in the region of 20 weeks per year and ideally to become our ‘go to’ Locum.

We can offer a pay rate commensurate with experience. Support from our pool of Legal Assistants will be available to you.  A degree of remote working will be considered.

If this opportunity is of interest, please email your CV in confidence to Sarah on s.butcher@laceyssolicitors.co.uk
