Jonathan Ogden, who specialises in Commercial property, qualified from Guildford College of Law in 1987. He is both the longest serving partner at Laceys, having been with the firm since 1985, and the senior partner.
He advises a wide client base on new site acquisitions for both residential and commercial developments, as well as hoteliers in connection with sales and purchases of hotels and associated businesses. He also assists with commercial tenancies, either with landlords granting leases to commercial tenants or vice versa.
Jonathan prides himself in being results driven and has a number of longstanding clients whom he has looked after for over 10 years, not only demonstrating the longevity of his work relationships but also proving he can deliver!
Outside of the office, he enjoys a busy social life sampling local restaurants as well as entertaining at home. When time permits he likes to immerse himself in a good book or sit back and watch a film. He also has a desire to complete a Philosophy Degree at some point in the future – watch this space!

Gemma is the head of our mediation department and a Family Mediation Council Accredited lawyer mediator. Gemma qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and joined Laceys in 2001. She has specialised in family law since qualifying as a solicitor and has worked full time as a mediator since 2009.
Gemma is qualified in all areas of family mediation, including divorce and financial settlements, child arrangements and property disputes between cohabitees. She is also qualified to see children as part of the mediation process. Natasha is the Partner in charge of our Parkstone Branch and specialises in Wills and Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Natasha joined Laceys in 1999 as a Trainee Solicitor and qualified in 2001, she has been working in her specialised area since her second year as a Trainee and has therefore acquired a very in depth knowledge of this area. Natasha has a Law degree from the University of Hertfordshire and her route to qualify as a Solicitor was through the Legal Practice course which she did locally at Bournemouth University. In addition to this she has completed several professional development courses in her field.
Before starting at Laceys, Natasha worked in the Legal department at Bournemouth Borough Council and prior to that gained experience in dealing with elderly client matters having been a financial officer for the Council, dealing with financial applications for residential care and during her holidays whilst studying Law at university she was a care assistant in care homes and also a home help in the community.
One of her specialisms is making use of Trusts in Wills for couples to shelter assets from residential care fees or to ensure that children from a first marriage are guaranteed to inherit from their parents Estate should mum or dad die and want to benefit their new spouse under the terms of their Will.
Away from work Natasha enjoys taking her wheaten terrier Ruby on long walks by the sea and spending time with friends and family.

Philip graduated from Trinity College Cambridge in 1978 with an Upper Second BA in Law and was admitted as a solicitor in January 1981 having been articled in the Government Legal Service. After working as a prosecutor for HM Customs and Excise for two years, Philip moved into private practice in Reading. Brendan has a BSc in Zoology and Psychology from the University of Liverpool, and went on to obtain his Post Graduate Diploma in Law, and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law (now the University of Law), in Chester. Brendan completed his training with a national firm in Manchester and London, and was admitted as a solicitor in 2005.
Brendan is part of our Dispute Resolution Team, working with both private individuals and businesses to either avoid or resolve disputes. With over 10 years experience he has helped clients deal with a wide variety of issues from professional negligence claims and breach of contract disputes, to more specialist areas including construction disputes, intellectual property work, licensing applications and inheritance claims.
Brendan has a very approachable manner, and places great importance on client relationships. He enjoys tackling all matters directly, and always looks to provide clients with practical, cost-effective solutions. Outside of work Brendan runs a hugely successful music festival in the Cotswolds.

John joined Laceys in 2001 on a training contract, having completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Law in 2000, and qualified as a solicitor in 2003. He is now the Head of the Commercial and Residential Property Departments.

Mark qualified as a solicitor in 2008 after gaining an LLB (2003) and LLM (2005) at university’s in Birmingham. He completed his training contract with the North Dorset and South Wiltshire firm now known as Farnfields LLP and joined Horsey Lightly Fynn (HLF) in Bournemouth in 2011. Jonathan is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the firm aside from client work. Having been a client service partner with the firm for 25 years, Jonathan retired from that role in 2014 but undoubtedly knows the firm inside out and holds its best interests very close.
With his client service background Jonathan also handles any complaints the firm may receive. The smooth incorporation of all the HLF clients and staff into the Laceys fold was largely due to his efforts.
In his spare time Jonathan is very much a family man with his wife, four children and a dog keeping him busy. When time allows he attempts to catch fish in Poole Harbour.
Edwina has returned to Laceys after working for Womble Bond Dickinson in Southampton and is an Associate within our Corporate and Commercial team. Edwina specialises in commercial contracts, intellectual property and charity law and has experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on a variety of agreements. Since qualifying in 2011, she has advised a range of businesses in various sectors. This includes a secondment working in-house for a well-known multi-national retailer.
Edwina has been listed in the Legal 500 as having an “incredible knowledge and a drive to do things right’. She enjoys getting to know a client’s business in order that she can provide tailored, practical advice.

Before joining Laceys Sam worked for over 10 years in several marketing agencies in London, managing client projects across different sectors, ranging from Coca Cola to the Department of Health. Having grown up in Poole herself, Sam and her family took the decision to move back to the South Coast a few years ago to bring up their young children.

Sarah is our HR manager, looking after our people from before they even start with us, until they move on. Having worked in a number of different sectors, Sarah’s been in HR for almost 20 years.
A Chartered Member of the CIPD, Sarah keeps up to date with what’s important to our business and enjoys making sure we get the best from everyone – as well as being a calm voice of reason.

Kenneth is the elder statesman of our mediation team, with forty years’ experience as a family lawyer, and qualified as a mediator in 1996. Kenneth has been a key member of the Laceys mediation team since 2005, specialising in financial and children cases, with a particular interest and specialisation in high conflict cases.
Kenneth is also qualified to consult with children, a growing part of the mediation process. Jane has been a qualified Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives since 2005. She deals with all aspects of Residential Conveyancing including sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfer of equity of freehold and leasehold properties. Jane has spent some of her career in Cornwall where she worked for a number of highly respected firms before moving to Bournemouth in 2016.

Matthew is an Associate in Laceys Private Client team. His main areas of expertise include wills, lasting powers of attorney and administration of estates. Matthew has been working in this area of law since he qualified and has assisted a large number of clients.
Matthew qualified as a solicitor in 2012. He completed his Law Degree at the University of Sussex and the Legal Practice Course at Bournemouth University. Matthew completed his training contract at Morris Scott and Co. (now Kiteleys Solicitors) and also worked at Aldridge Brownlee Solicitors LLP before joining Laceys in September 2017.
Matthew prides himself on his approachable nature and enjoys assisting and supporting clients experiencing difficult circumstances following the death of a loved one.
Out of the office, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons. He is a big AFC Bournemouth fan having held a season ticket at Dean Court for many seasons.
Rob Fleming is Laceys IT Manager, who is kept constantly busy keeping the infrastructure running and providing technical support to all staff across our 3 offices.
Born and bred in Dorset, Rob first started out in 1989 within the photographic department of the Echo as a darkroom technician learning the fine art of B&W and colour hand printing, before ending up in IT. Rob parted company with the Echo in 2015 and soon after, took up his current position at Laceys.
When not sorting out computer problems, Rob likes to get out and about photographing anything that moves, and can often be found complaining about his old camera equipment or the lack of light or the haze or the rain or the mist….!

Gemma joined Laceys in 2007. Jeanette began her career with Laceys after she left school and has worked over the years in various departments obtaining valuable experience. Since 2005 she has settled in our Private Client as a paralegal specialising in making applications to the Court of Protection for the appointment of Deputies to look after the financial affairs of clients who are no longer mentally able to do so themselves. She also manages client affairs under Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Away from work Jeanette loves long walks and enjoys travelling to France in her husband’s classic car.

Sara is an experienced family law associate solicitor who advises clients in relation to all private family matters to include divorce, finances, children contact and residence disputes and injunctions for victims of domestic violence. Ella completed her Law LLB Hons degree at the University of Surrey graduating in 2013 and subsequently the LPC at the University of Law. Ella joined us to commence her training contract in 2014 and qualified into our corporate and commercial team in March 2016, now acting on a wide variety of corporate, commercial and employment matters ranging from local businesses to national companies.
Ella can assist with business and share transactions, shareholders’ agreements, drafting articles of association and other general company law matters. Ella also advises on employment law aspects predominantly in a corporate context. In particular, her work includes drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, providing assistance and advice on TUPE transfers, and other general employer advice.

Laura began her training contract at Laceys in 2021. She previously gained a first class honours degree in Law from Bournemouth University, followed by a distinction in her Legal Practice Course from the University of Law.
Laura has experience in commercial law; she undertook her placement year at Siemens Mobility Limited, drafting and negotiating engineering and construction contracts. She is looking forward to putting her experience into practice and exploring more areas of commercial and corporate law within her seat rotations.
Away from work Laura enjoys spending time with family and friends, boxing and running. She is a keen snowboarder, skier and loves to travel. Furthermore Laura organises and participates in charity events wherever possible for Brain Tumour Research.

Jade works as a Trainee Legal Executive and is a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. Having completed her Law LLB Hons degree at Nottingham Law School in 2012 graduating with a 2:1, she has since completed her Level 6 Diploma in Legal Practice (CILEx Graduate Fast-track Diploma).
Jade has over four years of experience working in the Property department after joining Horsey Lightly Fynn in 2014 and subsequently moving over to Laceys when the Firms merged in 2015. Jade is currently focusing her training on Lease Extension and Collective Enfranchisement work as well as dealing with residential sales and purchases.
Outside of work, Jade enjoys going to PT sessions at the gym and is kept busy as a volunteer for the Emergency Services.
Kelly is part of the residential conveyancing team and looks after our New Client Business. Kelly has over 8 years’ experience within the estate agency field, within this period Kelly has gained experience, knowledge and in the last few years a promotion to Sales Manager.
Working within this industry has given her a great understanding of the customers conveyancing journey, this in turn has given her the drive and motivation to maintain a helpful, friendly, proactive relationship with clients, whilst maintaining the highest standard of customer service. In Kelly’s eyes there is no such thing a silly question, I am simply here to help! With Kelly’s background and knowledge she fills the void between estate agent and solicitor, explaining the ‘what comes next’ process and alleviating the pressures of forms and just simply being that friendly reassuring voice on the phone.
Kelly in her spare times enjoys being mum’s taxi to her two children, spending time with her family, socialising, organising-attending face painting events and Air Cadets.
Pete is very experienced in his field having been admitted as a solicitor to carry out legal work in relation to Litigation, Family, Housing & Personal Injury in 1970.
Pete carries out Legal Aid litigation work relating to Housing, Family and Care proceedings on behalf of Laceys, who have been granted a Legal Aid housing franchise. Pete also does private work in these areas, as well as general civil litigation including personal injury work.
Pete enjoys Court work, with the aim to settle cases as efficiently and economically for the client as possible.
Outside of work, Pete is married with 3 adult sons. He also enjoys reading, walking and following Rugby Union.

Zoe has 38 years extensive experience in the legal profession, now working in our residential property team, acting for a range of clients relating to residential conveyancing, transfers of equity and remortgages.
Zoe started her career as a legal secretary, before going on to work in probate and then as a PA for a number of years, before joining Coles Miller in 2000. Zoe progressed from a conveyancing assistant to managing her own caseload which involved residential conveyancing, transfer of equities, remortgages and beach hut sales and purchases. She then made the move to Laceys in 2014.
Outside of work, Zoe enjoys going on holidays, visiting her son Jack in South Indiana, eating out and generally socialising with family and friends over a drink or two!

Rob is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (September 2009). Rob also holds an LLB (Hons) degree in law. He successfully completed training as a mediator under the ADR Chambers / Harvard Law Project Scheme and was one of the first mediators to have been appointed an IMI Certified Mediation Advocate in the UK with a commercial practice.

Des specialises in Residential property, having qualified from Guildford College of Law in 1976.
Des joined Andrews McQueen as a trainee solicitor and then became partner at Edge, Leyden & Co in the late 70’s, before joining Laceys in 2006, where he has remained ever since, becoming a valued and integral part of the Residential property team.

Andy is a Chartered Accountant and is responsible for ensuring the firm’s finances are under control and that the demanding SRA Accounts Rules are complied with.

Shannon is a Solicitor in our Family Department and specialises in advising upon relationship breakdown, financial remedies and children cases.
Shannon joined Laceys in 2018 as a Trainee Solicitor after completing her undergraduate Law Degree at Bournemouth University and then studied her Legal Practice Course and obtained her Masters Degree in Professional Legal Practice at The University of Law, Guildford. Shannon has worked at a number of high street firms and a large regional firm prior to joining Laceys.
Shannon prides herself on her tenacity and strength of negotiation to resolve matters as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Shannon seeks to resolve cases amicably as well as robustly, and can adapt her approach to suit you. Shannon aims to support you throughout to make the process of your instructions to her as stress free as possible.
In her spare time, Shannon makes the most of living on the South Coast by cycling along the beach and taking long walks in the New Forest. She also enjoys dining alfresco, spa days and enabling her wanderlust. Shannon is heavily involved in the local legal community as a member of the District Junior Lawyers Division and she is also a member of the Laceys Social Committee.

Deborah is a Chartered Legal Executive who has worked in the Private Client department at Laceys for over 18 years.
Deborahs journey to Laceys started in 1985 when she qualified as a FILEX. She then undertook her Associateship in Taunton and completed her Fellowship in Poole. Aside from a couple of years in Gibraltar, Deborah then gained valuable experience working for various local firms in their private client departments before joining Laceys in 2000.
She specialises in all areas of private client work, wills, powers of attorney, tax planning, Court of Protection, administration of estates, NHS Continuing Care, welfare benefits and all issues related to the elderly and infirm. She finds this area of law quite holistic – it is not just a matter of applying rules and regulations but organising a client’s affairs in such a way that they are made easier and clearer during what can be a very emotional and upsetting time. Her work requires a very good and patient listening ear, bedside manner and sometimes a sense of humour but still achieving the client’s objectives on time.
When time permits she enjoys reading, cooking and relaxing by the Christchurch River but only when the sun shines! Travelling is a great hobby but there is never enough time to visit all. She has four stepchildren, four grandchildren plus a nephew and niece who help keep her busy at home!

Inga is a Residential Property Solicitor in our Conveyancing Department. Inga is friendly and approachable, and it is her aim to keep her clients updated and informed throughout the entire conveyancing process.
Inga qualified as a solicitor in 2013 after obtaining her Law Degree from the University of Plymouth and her Masters from Bournemouth University. She completed her Training Contract at a local law firm where she worked until she joined Laceys in 2018.
Inga is from Germany and speaks German fluently. Away from work Inga enjoys spending time with her friends and family and she can often be found on the agility field with her dog Mabel, trying to get a clear round.

Beverley enjoys the personal aspect of her work, helping people overcome bereavement and making the best out of often difficult, emotional circumstances. She deals with clients from all walks of life, and remains down to earth at all times, removing the legal jargon so clients understand their situations.
Having recently had a baby, Beverley has very little spare time, but she is still a fan of F1 Racing and retains her love of shopping, films and holidays in the sun!

Aisling is in her second year of her training contract at Laceys and has thoroughly enjoyed working hard to gain experience in various legal departments. Aisling is planning to spend the remaining part of her training contract in the property department – both residential and commercial.
Aisling undertakes a variety of tasks for the property department, from transfer of a portfolio of properties, to reporting on leasehold and freehold transactions and from drafting leases to commercial negotiation. All of Aisling’s experience has been with the guidance of many supportive colleagues and she is eager to learn more.
Away from work Aisling is very busy putting on her DIY hat taking inspiration from lots of interior design social media accounts. Aisling also enjoys fitting in a bit of fitness most mornings, walking her Cairn Terrier Stavely and eating good food with friends and family!

Having joined Laceys in 2018, Byron qualified as a solicitor in 2019 and is delighted to be working within the dispute resolution team, with a focus on employment matters, debt recovery and landlord and tenant disputes.
Byron completed his first degree in modern language studies with the Open University in 2010 with a 2.1 (hons). He then studied law at Bournemouth University, passing the Graduate Diploma in Law with merit and the Legal Practice Course with distinction.
Before coming to law, Byron lived and worked around the world, from France to Bolivia, teaching English as a foreign language. From his travels and studies, Byron speaks fluent French and Spanish, as well as bits of other languages. As well as travel, Byron likes to spend his free time outdoors (weather permitting) and playing music.

Joe joined Laceys Solicitors in 2018 from a well-respected local firm. Joe qualified as a solicitor in 2002 training and working in the Thames Valley until she moved to Dorset in 2012. Joe is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners and specialises in all areas of Trust and Estate Administration, Tax Planning and in the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. Joe enjoys all aspects of private client work and feels a particular sense of satisfaction when working together with a clients’ other professional advisors to provide a holistic response to life’s complex ups and downs.
Outside of the office Joe enjoys spending time with her family, appreciating the great outdoors and trying to keep up with her husband and two young children as they investigate the magnificent Dorset coastline! Some quiet time with a book and her cats is also always very welcome!
Alan joined Laceys in 2020 after obtaining a First Class law degree with the Open University and then completing his Legal Practice Course with the University of Law.
After deciding to retrain and pursue a more ‘people focussed’ career in Law, Alan worked at Citizen Advice while studying and specialised in benefits and benefit tribunals. Alan continues to pursue his goal of helping individuals with their personal legal problems and has his sights set on a position within the Family department.
Outside of work Alan is a keen amateur DIYer and is a motorcycling enthusiast. He enjoys family like and likes to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and dogs.
Damian has over 25 years’ experience as a Family lawyer, dealing with Children disputes and financial issues arising from marriage or relationship breakdown. He specialises in particular with all aspects of public and private law Children cases, acting for parents, guardians and extended family members. He represents his clients at all levels of the Family Court and is known for his empathetic approach towards both negotiation and litigation. This makes him especially well equipped to deal with clients who face a potentially life-changing legal process.
At the weekends, Damian is a keen triathlete and can often be found swimming, cycling and running the Dorset coastline. He conquered Ironman Wales in 2015 and is now in training for the next big event.
Amber works as a Trainee Legal Executive and is currently studying with Cilex Law School to complete her Level 3 Certificate in Family Law. Amber works within our Family Department dealing with divorces and children disputes arising from marriage or relationship breakdown. In addition, she works with parents and family members through all levels of Child Protection intervention by Children’s Services. Amber prides herself in taking an empathetic approach to all matters to assist clients who face a potentially life-changing legal process.
Outside of work Amber enjoys dancing and has been classically trained in a wide variety of genres. She now uses her love of dance to choreograph small shows and choreographing couples first dance for their wedding.

Graham Walford - Howell
Claire joined the Commercial Property team at Laceys in 2018 having gained ten years’ experience both in private practice at two international law firms and more recently leading the commercial property department of a shared legal service for three large local authorities.
Claire advises clients on all aspects of commercial property including landlord and tenant and development work. She is extremely approachable and focused on building long-lasting relationships with her clients, understanding their needs and delivering projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. Previous projects Claire has been involved with are The Bullring in Birmingham, the 2012 London Olympics, town centre regeneration and mixed-use development sites.
Having recently relocated, Claire’s spare time is spent with her three young children enjoying all that the coast and the New Forest has to offer, catching up with friends and acting in her capacity as a trustee for a hospice.

Konnie joined Laceys in September 2021 as a trainee solicitor. Previously Konnie studied for her undergraduate degree in International Relations at King’s College London before she decided to pursue a career in law. She then undertook the law conversion at Bournemouth university before completing the LPC at the University of Law in Reading.
Between university degrees and before starting her training contract Konnie has gained work experience in client-facing roles including Dorset County Council and at a conveyancing firm.
Away from work Konnie enjoys socialising with family and friends, running and practising yoga, and most of all spending time with her rescue Rottweiler. When restrictions permit, there is nothing Konnie enjoys more than exploring a new part of the world.
